The Happiness Collective Last week, we invited you to dive deeper into the four pillars of meaning that Emily Esfahani Smith talks about in her TED talk, "The Power of Meaning". For the next few weeks, we’ll be collectively exploring a bit more of each pillar. Today, we’re taking a closer look at belonging.
The Happiness Collective A happy, meaningful life is built by being intentional with how you spend your time and where you direct your thoughts and energy. So, let’s take some time to be intentional about exploring a bit of each of these pillars — how we may currently be using them to create meaning in our lives, and how we may not be.
The Happiness Collective At its most basic level, “happy” is just an emotion — like anger, sadness, and surprise — and emotions are temporary, fleeting things. But we also tend to use the word “happiness” to describe a state of being in which we feel resourced, satisfied, and fulfilled, which tends to be more sustainable when we have a sense of meaning in our lives.
